Mission: Episode 1: Shadows of Diplomacy
Location: Sickbay

Darla was a bit offput when she tried to walk into Sickbay and instead walked into the doors. Shed instructed the computer to lift the lockout and walked in to find Sickbay relatively sta ble. She'd commended Dr. Winters' and Nurse Bowman's quick thinking in keeping everyone safe, and went to her office to update her reports on the situation. She was mildly surprised to find Granger wasn't there, but assumed he'd either retreated to their quarters before the lockdown, or was elsewhere hiding from trouble.

Nearly an hour had passed before she glanced at the chronometer and was about to call down to Lieutenant Mist's quarters, when she heard the doors to Sickbay opened. She stepped out of her office and saw both Rayven and Misty come in and nodded in relief. "Thank you for coming," she said, smiling. "Shall we?" She gestured towards one of the secluded sections containing general exam beds.

Rayven handed the doctor her file that contained both hers and Mindy's medical records. "I'm sorry about earlier, Mindy's been through a lot these past few days and I wanted to find our quarters and freshen up and drop off her dog." Rayven took MIndy's hand, "Come on Minds, this is procedure when mommy gets to a new ship." They walked off to one of the bio beds, Rayven picked up MIndy and put her on one.

"That's all right," Darla said with a smile. "I understand. You've both been through quite the ordeal." She smiled down at Mindy and pulled up a stool, sitting down to look the girl more directly in the eyes. "And how are you feeling after this adventure?" she said, scanning the young girl slowly as looked into the little girl's eyes.

"I'm tired and I wanna play with Wizzer, he's my dog," Mindy said.

Darla grinned. "Great name," she said. "Well, give me just a few minutes to make sure your mom is okay, and you can go have a good nap and cuddle up with Wizzer. Deal?"

"My grandpa give him to me," Mindy replied "He's my friend, Mommy said he's my responsibility."

"Thank you. And as a reward for being such a good patient..." She hummed a few notes and reached behind Mindy's ear and "found" a small, chocolate coin. "Here you go," she said.

"How you do that" Mindy asked looking to Rayven. "Can I have it mommy?"

Rayven nodded. "What do you tell the doctor?"

"Thank you," Mindy said as she took the candy and popped it in her mouth,

Darla smiled. "You're very welcome." Darla stood up and motioned for Raven to hop up on the other biobed. "Make yourself comfortable," she said.

Rayven took a seat on the bio-bed "These bio-beds are never comfortable," Rayven teased

"Well, I'll see if we can do something about that," Darla said, idly. She scanned her carefully, checking with the biobed's systems. "The good news is, you seem none the worse for wear. I would recommend some sleeping in for the next few days, but other than that, you're in good shape."

Rayven shook her head, "That's not likely to happen, I should check in with my department and I'm sure the captain is going to want to see me. I've got some unpacking to do."

"And there are many hours in the day," Darla said. "Don't overstress yourself. After the stress you've been under, I'd put you on light duty if I thought you'd listen to me." She stuck her tongue out a bit and smiled. "How about we agree you get a full eight hours for the next few nights, and don't do anything overly straining, hm?"

"Light duty? It's been years since I was put on light duty. I'll do my best to get eight hours of sleep but no promises," Rayven assured her.

"I suppose that's the best I can ask for," Darla said, dryly with a wry smile.

"Mommy's a cliff diver and a good one. I wanna be one when I get big too," Mindy said.

"We'll talk about that in a few years," Rayven told her daughter. "Your too little right now."

"One good breeze and you wouldn't dive, you'd fly in the air!" Darla said exaggeratedly, grinning at the girl.

"Mommy flies when she dives," Mindy said jumping off the bio bed.

Darla looked back at Rayven and closed her tricorder. "You're free to go rest in your quarters. If you need anything, please call, okay?"

Rayven nodded, "That, Doctor, I will do." Rayven turned to Mindy, "I think, Minds, that Wizzer might want his supper and go for a walk. Then it's bed time for you. Thank you doctor for not asking the obvious question."

"I try to avoid them at all costs," Darla said, bobbing her rainbow-colored eyebrows. "That said, welcome aboard, Lieutenant." She picked up a padd, making notes as they walked, and escorted them to the exit. "Have a good night," she said, pleasantly as they left.
