Mission: Episode 2: Mine of Taurus
Location: XO's Office

ON:

After checking in with the science department and introducing herself to the staff she'd be working with, dropping Mindy off at child care with her Beagle, Wizzer it was time to check in with the command staff; Rayven hoped that the issue with Eddie and his attack on the ship was not going to be a problem with her serving on the Scharnhorst. Only time would tell. After getting the location of the XO's office Mist made her way there. Palming the door sensor she waited for permission to enter her tranfer orders in hand even though she was certain he already had them.

"Come in." Colton called out. He put down the padd he was working on and smiled as their new officer entered. He noted she seemed a little nervous or concerned. Considering how she had come on board he couldn't blame her. The first officer waited for her to speak.

Rayven walked in and snapped to attention, "Lieutenant Rayven Mist reporting for duty sir," she said trying not to sound nervous as she handed him her transfer orders.

Colton took the orders from her. "Please, have a seat." He looked them over for a few minutes and looked up at her. "You seem a bit nervous, more than just new ship orders."

Rayven took a seat, "Yes commander it's more than just new orders. It's Brisco, I assure you I had no idea he was in the sector let alone near Risa, I've not seen him in three years and I don't care if I ever do. I don't want to get off on the wrong footing here."

Colton sat for a long moment and then spoke. "You are not responsible for the actions of Eddie Brisco. He takes full blame for what he attempts to do. I don't think there is a person on this ship who believes it's your fault and if anyone says that to you, I want to know about it." He wasn't having crew on his watch harrassed or bullied.

"No one has said a thing, I don't think that anyone knows why Eddie was after this ship. I just wanted to clear the air. How he found out I was being assigned to this ship is a mystery to me." Rayven replied relaxing some.

"He has ties within the fleet I'm sure." Colton said quietly. "There are some who will give information if the price is right. You'd be surprised at how easy it actually is." He paused. "How are you and your daughter settling in?"

Rayven nodded "Your right and Eddie is EX-Starfleet. As for how we're settling in, we're settling in well, Thank you for asking.."

"With all you've been through." Colton explained. "If there is anything we can do to make things better let me know."

"I'll do that commander and thank you," Rayven replied.

"Do you have any questions for me?" Colton asked her. If she did, now was the time to ask.

Rayven thought a few minutes, "I can't think of anything commander, My quarters are fine, the staff in science is good and my daughter is hoping to make friends, I'm looking forward to serving here,"

"She will make friends quickly." Colton said with a smile. "The captains daughter makes sure all kids feel welcome."

"Mindy will like that," Rayven said. "I did hear the captain has a daughter, I think she's near Mindy's age."

"I'm sure if you can be in the lunchroom around one oclock one day with your daughter, the captains daughter Is usually there with her mother, the ships cook."

Rayven smiled, "I think that can be arranged and thank you for the suggestion,"

"It can be hard for kids making friends and Pasilee is like the kids hospitality committee all wrapped in one ball of energy." Colton smiled. He could.tell she was relaxing some.

"I can't wait to introduce Mindy to Pasilee. Mindy really has no friends other than her dog so having a friend will be good for her," Rayven replied

"Paislee will embrace her." Colton smiled. "She wants to be everyone's friend." It was true, Paislee was a people person who hated to see anyone alone or lonely.

"I'm going to enjoy serving here, and so will Mindy," Rayven said smiling.

"I'm glad to hear it." Colton replied. "Unless there is something else, you are dismissed.

"Thank you commander," Rayven said getting to her feet and walking from his office. Things looked brighter and Rayven was looking forward to serving on the ship and getting to know everyone.

Colton watched her leave and returned to the mundane task of doing reports. It was necessary but not his favorite task.
