Nathaniel was lonely, sad reality of starting off in Starfleet. Everybody always talked about these big Grand romantic gestures and moments of life where people just meet each other right off the bat and this was his second assignment his first time serving on an inquiry class ship his first ship was a lot smaller this one was the least thing modified battle cruiser now converted to a heavy cruiser.

He was eager for all the wrong reasons to take the new assignment. He was hoping for a relationship but everything that he was told, told him he should never do a pursuing one because if you do you'll never find one. But that was easy to say when you weren't lonely and miserable. He had no idea why his heart was calling for him to you join in a relationship with somebody.

Tonight there wasn't about picking up on girls, he was mainly about just getting out and having a good night before he meets his senior staff and the rest of the officers that he'll be serving with. Nathaniel just chose a random bar and walked in and had a seat next to the bar. That's when he saw her a beautiful blonde woman who also seem to be lost in her own thoughts. At first he wondered about saying hi to her but then he decided probably his best course action but it's just the way and see what kind of mood she was in, but then he started kicking himself thinking man this is how you're going to get rejected by hitting on somebody who is not even showing you any interest. He don't want to be that guy.

Aurora was sitting at a table swirling the drink in her glass as she watched the crowd. Seeing a very handsome man stop not far from where she was sitting. "Hi, you look lost, I'm Aurora."

"You know, I think you are right." Nathaniel said with a big warm smile on his face. He could have lied and said he was not lost, but that seemed dishonest. And tonight, he was looking for fun. And it was hard to have fun, if you lie. Lying requires to much attention to detail. It was easier just to be honest.

"Care to join me?" Aurora asked. Hoping he'd say yes.

"I would like that, so I take it your not lost?" Nathaniel asked, trying to be smooth in his approach, as he moved closer to her at the bar. His smile never left his face.

"No I'm not lost. I'm waiting to board my ship. I've been assigned to the USS Scharnhorst," Aurora replied smiling.

"Really, that's my posting too." Nathaniel said, feeling maybe it was fate that they met tonight. "I am the new diplomatic officer. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to serve on the Scharnhorst."

"I'm the chief counselor," Aurora replied "I'm glad that there will be someone I know."

"So if I needed counseling, I could see more of you, right?" Nathaniel said in a playful tone. He really did not feel that he needed services. His confidence was a bit over the top. He was very cocky, and it was clear to everyone around him. He hoped that it impressed Aurora.

Aurora smiled "That you can. I just hope my being a counselor won't scare you away. Not everyone likes to talk to me."

"I find that hard to believe, Counselor. Or may I call you Aurora?" Nathaniel asked, as he leaned in a little closer to her. But still managing to keep a little distance, so it did not appear like he was crowding her.

"Yes please call me Aurora. And yes there are those who would rather not see a counselor. Some call us shrinks."

"I go by Nathaniel or Nathan or Nate, I'll let you decide." He said, as he reached out to shake her hand officially. He then went on to say. "I wont be calling you Shrink, rest assured."

Aurora shook his hand "Thank you Nate, that's good to know."

"Sounds cute when you call me Nate." Nathaniel said, with a big warm smile on his face. "Nate and Aurora has a nice sound to it, if I may be so bold." He said with a big smirk on his face. He was allowing his confidence do all the speaking for him. Mainly because he was really nervous.

"It does have a nice sound to it," Aurora agreed as she took a sip of her drink. "Is the Scharnhorst your first ship posting? It's not mine but for the past two years I've been working at Starfleet Command."

"No but it's turning out to be my favorite one so far." Nathaniel said trying to sound smooth and confident, her smile could warm up the coldest night. He loves to see her smile, and those warm loving eyes he could see himself growing old with but he was getting at himself.

"I hope it's mine too, the captain requested me. I hired a caretaker for my apartment and packed what I'm bringing to my office and my quarters," Aurora said as she finished her drink.

"Oh, so you're a hand chosen by the captain?" Nathaniel said not knowing that but hoping that wasn't going to complicate things between them.

"I was and I cannot go into any details, I'll still have my regular counseling to do as well. With plenty of time for friends and who else comes along," Aurora replied "I hope I've not scared you away."

"I'm still here." He said with the big loving smile on his face. He actually moved a couple inches closer just to show that he wasn't running.

"I'm glad," Aurora said as she took his hand "I was hoping you'd say that."

"I'm not used to girls being so forward, but I must admit I kind of like it." Nathaniel said like in a woman who know what she wanted and wasn't going to play games. He wondered if more counselors were like her or was this just her personality?

"I'm not normally so forward either. I just feel comfortable around you," Aurora replied "I hope I've not scared you off.

"I'm glad to hear that, I feel the same way about you. I feel so comfortable around you. It's like we have known each other, our entire lives." Nathaniel said, as he decided to take a risk, and be honest on how he was feeling.

"I thought that the minute I saw you," Aurora replied "I'm sure if I'd have met you I'd have remembered meeting you."

"Well isn't this refreshing, here I thought I was trying to sweep you off your feet and hear your sweeping me off mine." Nathaniel said with a warm playful smile on his face.

"I think we're both sweeping each other off our feet," Aurora said.

"You sure know how to make a man feel special." Nathaniel said with a big grin on his face. He wondered where this lady had been all his life, and he was glad that he transferred to the USS Scharnhorst.

"Likewise," Aurora said "It's like we've known each for a long time. Having a friendly face on the ship will make it easier. Like I said not everyone likes counselors."

"There loss is my gain." Nathaniel said as the scene starts to fade away. They had a big day tomorrow. Tomorrow they would meet their captain in the command ceremony.
