Mission: Episode 1: Shadows of Diplomacy
Location: USS Scharnhorst, Conference Room

"Sorry for calling everyone together so early. We have a situation here. And we need to launch as soon as possible. To start with, Commander Rogers will be our acting first officer for this mission." Adrian started to say, as he grabbed a glass of water and took a sip. He then went on to say. "Our New Chief Science Officer is in danger. She is coming from Risa. And needs an immediate extraction. This will not be a vacation."

Adrian took a moment to let that sink in. "Lieutenant Mist, estranged ex husband is trying to kidnap her, and has ties with pirates. Which leads us to our first mission. The capture of Eddie Brisko." Adrian said, a display of the former Starfleet officer appeared on the screen.

“Engineering is ready to go, Captain.” Zaire spoke up. He was happy to hear they were leaving this soon. He was anxious to get out there.

Casey Virel sat quietly, listening and observing. He was still getting to know his crew mates, but so far they seemed to be capable (if not a bit young). “Ops is green across the board,” he said in a measured tone.

“All departments checked in as ready to to earlier today.” Colton spoke up, looking down at his pads. “I see this Eddie Brisco does not value life.” His eyes held concern. “We need to get to her quickly.”

"Sickbay's ready if she requires medical attention," Darla said. "Hopefully our services won't be required."

"From what the file suggests, he's obsessed but his obsession isn't just over Rayven Mist." Adrian started to say. He took a breath.

"I believe Lieutenant Mist has a daughter," Aurora commented.

"Correct Lieutenant, she does appear to be the primary target." Adrian said as an imagine of Mindy Mist, "His relationship to her, he is her father."

"Can't imagine a father putting his daughter in danger like that," Robert said, disdain in his voice. "How fast do you want us there? I can have every pilot ready to take a ship out once we arrive."

Ens Kaayu Shir came in late, and found a chair to sit down nodding to other Starfleet officers in the room, With her Security padd ,pulling her uniform down as she thought it was wrinkled and trying to make a good impression to the others in the room.

Zaire was waiting for the captains answer. If it were immediate he needed to get his crew moving. They were ready but it was good to be prepared.

“Our priority should be to get them on board and safe.” Colton spoke up. “And hopefully secure the father to a place he won’t be able to reach them.”

"No one needs to be targeted like this," Aurora spoke up.

"That doesn't change the fact that it's happened," Darla lamented. "Hopefully our target will make a mistake."

"Do not underestimate Mr. Brisko. He's a former Starfleet officer and he's well aware of our procedures, and he's been pretty good at evading them. So we need to stay in ahead of them right now I have an intelligence operative protecting the Mist family." Adrian said, the main viewer changed to a tactical map operations layout.

"We're not taking any chances, I want to strike team ready to go. Mr. Brandt, how is your piloting skills for a low orbital warp drop?" The simulation show the shuttle dropping out of warp just right on the edge of the atmosphere and then dropping straight in and then a quick deceleration towards the surface with the shuttle heading to an undisclosed location just long enough to beam up the extraction targets."

Robert watched the screen and rubbed his chin. "We'll need to be careful we don't drop in the atmosphere, or the sonic boom will blow any surprise we hope to have... " He stared a moment more, working it out in his mind's eye, as he'd always done as a test pilot, then looked at the Captain and nodded. "I can do it."

"Good, Doctor I want you to accompany them. We might need your special abilities plus we don't know what the current status of the extraction team will be once we catch up to them. Right now they're in a safe house but they're going to start moving soon. My orders are for them to keep moving." Adrian said, has he looked over to Darla. She was going to be a vital asset to this mission.

Adrian was hoping for the best, but fearing that Eddie might catch up to them. And he wanted to be prepared for all potential outcomes.

Darla nodded and shared a glance with Robert. "Aye, Sir. I'll have one nurse with me. We'll be ready."

"Thank you Doctor, now lets talk strategy. I want Lieutenant Brant, to lead this mission. This is an opportunity for you to prove your ready for the big chair." Adrian said with a warm smile on his face.

"Aye, Captain," Robert said, sitting up a bit straighter. He felt Darla squeeze his knee under the table and reached down, patting her hand. "I'll coordinate with the shuttlebay and have one ready within the hour."

"Petty Officer Fara, will be ready, I have no doubt." Adrian suggested to Robert. He then focused his attention on Colton.

"Commander Rogers, I want you on the bridge with me for this mission. I need your tracking skills you're one of the best. I need to know what Mr Brisko is doing at every stage of our rescue mission." Adrian said to him. Which was mostly true he did want him on the bridge for that particular reason but he also wanted to evaluate him. He was evaluating both Colton and Robert to be members of his leadership team. But he wasn't going to tell them that.

“Yes sir!” Colton replied. “We will know his every move.” He was prepared for this, it was something he excelled at.

"Lieutenant zh'Vethryn, I want you to join the strike team as well." Adrian ordered. Typically he would always allow the mission leader to decide who's on the away team but this time they were on a time crunch and he wanted his best people, people he knew people he trusted to get it done quickly. It didn't mean that he didn't trust the others but everybody was needed for a crucial part of the mission.

"Understood, sir." The Aenar replied with a smile.

Kaayu was listening to the captain and others who had words to say, her being the new officer she thought it be better just to listen.

Zaire was sending a message while listening to them speak. He was giving his assistant orders to prepare for departure.”

Kalina was a little tongue tied, she was not sure why she was invited her boss was in this meeting. She remained silent for the moment and nodding in agreement with Zaire her husband.

Nathaniel asked the only question on his mind. "Have we reached out to the Risan Authorities, I could try to work out a cooperation pact."

"Good Plan, Mr Montgomery has already done that." Adrian said with a smile, making mental note to give Nathaniel praise later on. "Any final questions, before we start this operation?"

Adrian did not hear anyone speak up. Sound like everybody knew their assignment. "Good luck everyone. Lieutenant Brant launch when ready. The Scharnhorst will have your six." Adrian said as the scene starts to fade away.
